Join Bryan Peterson who will be hosting Cat People (1942). Bryan spent the last year with Jane Randolph in Gstaad Switzerland. Bryan will share the scoop on Cat People, as well as other stories Jane shared with him about her years in Hollywood!!

Jane Randolph, a willowy beauty who was memorably terrorized by shadow and sound in one of the great suspense films of all time, the original "Cat People," died May 4 at a hospital near Gstaad, Switzerland, after breaking her hip. She was 93.

Miss Randolph appeared in more than 20 films and starred in low-budget fare such as "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein" (1948).

"Cat People" (1942), a movie revered by film enthusiasts for its high artistry under a strained budget, brought Miss Randolph her greatest public renown. Its acclaimed atmospherics - dimly lighted swimming pools and city streets that act as shadowscapes - were matters of necessity by filmmakers who could not afford better sets.

When two of America's best songwriters get together the result could be electric, but it is not. It is acoustic. Jack Hardy and David Massengill have known each other since they both moved to New York City in the mid-seventies, Jack from Colorado, David from Tennessee. The Boston Globe has said, "Jack Hardy is one of the most influential figures today in defining the American Folk Song." The same could be said of David Massengill. In this era of pop-driven acoustic music, these two have dual-handedly kept the folk tradition alive in songwriting.

Chad Elliott is the 2009 Woody Guthrie Festival Songwriting Contest Winner with his song, "Same Old Way." He has recently recorded this song and plans to release it on his much anticipated album, "Redemption Man," in the fall of 2009. After winning FolkAlley.com’s Open Mic Finals with his song “Bluebird Creek,” songwriter Elliott earned a spot on stage with Odetta. Odetta is just one on a long list of prolific folk artists he has shared the stage with including Tom Paxton, Loudon Wainwright III, Eric Taylor, Buddy Mondlock, Dan Zanes, R.L. Burnside and Storyhill. Also, Elliott’s song, “How’s the Weather?” was chosen out of 300,000 folk songs as an award nominee for the Top 20 New Folk Songs on Just Plain Folks. Elliott was recognized as a 2008 Grassy Hill Kerrville New Folk Finalist. He was one of 32 finalists, chosen from 800 applicants, who competed during the 2008 Kerrville Folk Festival. Above all the Iowa songwriter’s music slips messages about life as he has experienced it through living with the homeless, love, divorce, fatherhood and discovering inspiration in a modern world through strong lyrics and guitar.

Drawing from a multitude of influences ranging from elegant classical and jazz styles to the rawest, most basic blues, country and soul, Radoslav Lorkovic has taken on an unusually broad musical spectrum and refined it into his distinctive piano stlye. His tenure on the R&B and folk circuits has culminated in five critically acclaimed solo recordings and numerous appearances on the recordings of and performances with artists including Odetta, Jimmy LaFave, Ribbon of Highway Woody Guthrie Tribute, Greg Brown, Richard Shindell, Ellis Paul, Dave Moore, Andy White and Bo Ramsey. His twenty year touring career has led him from the taverns of the upper Mississippi River to the castles of Italy, The Canary Islands, The Yup'ik villages of Alaska and Carnegie Hall. Born in Zagreb, Croatia in 1958, Lorkovic's initial exposure to music can be attributed to two grandmothers. Antonija Bujas, his maternal Grandmother, sang him Croatian, Slovenian and Czech folk songs since birth. At age one he was reported to be singing back on pitch. By age three he was putting on floor shows for his grandfather and friends who would respond by showering him with coins yelling "pivaj Radoslav pivaj!" During this time classical music played in the home constantly due to the influence of his paternal grandmother Melita Lorkovic, a internationally renown classical pianist. In 1990 he made his solo recording debut. Six CDs later, Lorkovic currently tours the world regularly appearing at prestigious events such as the Woody Guthrie Festival, Womad, Winnipeg Folk Festival, Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, Mountain Stage, Prairie Home Companion as well as a litany of Italian castles and villas.

Seemingly oblivious to the limitations of what two musicians can create, Still on the Hill has set new boundaries of originality. This duo uses traditional instruments from their home in the Ozarks (mandolin, banjo, fiddle, guitar, harmonica and scrub board) as well as other exotic offerings (Moon guitar from Japan, African Mbira, and Tenor Ukulele) to create a kaleidoscope of musical color and texture:

This Chilean-born songwriter who divides his time between Paris and Los Angeles began playing in Los Angeles’ cabaret and burlesque scene of the early 00s. He played in places as the Hotel Café, the Gardenia, Vitello’s, the Vermont, Bordello, Tangier, M Bar and the legendary and now-defunct Bricktop’s, as well as in a variety of restaurants and shows.
